If you’re on a quest to feast on only the best tasting food on your plate then you’ve probably looked up the Michelin Guide. And if you’re just starting on looking up this guide, you’ll find that even the Chef Gordon Ramsay, a famous celebrity chef, was saddened by the loss of his New York Restaurant’s star rating, showing the impact this rating system has on top restaurants.
The Michelin Guide
Oddly enough, the Michelin Guide though originally meant to sell tires also has a long history of reviewing restaurants since the 1900’s, apart from rating restaurants 0 to 3 stars they also give the “Bib Gourmand” award to those who provide amazing food with a value price. These stars are really sought after by restaurants as majority of restaurants reviewed receive no stars at all, for instance, in Chicago’s old Michelin Guide of 500 restaurants only a single restaurant was awarded 3 stars, only 4 restaurants were rated with 2 stars and 20 restaurants listed only got 1 star.
Losing or gaining a star from the Michelin Guide tends to have a dramatic effect on the success of restaurants and food establishments.
