How industrialization has moved over the course of time has driven so much change in many ways. But while we enjoy the comfort, convenience and access the modern world gives us, access to old historical places always gives us that nostalgic warm feeling.
It could be just wondering what our parents’ childhood was like, or even looking back at our own piece of childhood. An old candy store at the corner, old toys and gift shops, even vintage equipment and music can be a refreshing break from the modern world of today.
If you’re looking for that nostalgic break, or maybe want to take a walk in your parent’s younger shoes, here is a list of wonderful shops that’s escaped the touch of modern times offering you the chance to reminisce on the past and take a trip down memory lane.
Walking into these shops will offer you an experience you won’t get from any museum or gallery.

This place is like a mini-museum with an endless inventory of many beautiful pieces. What’s great is that you can visit and have a chat with its owner, Keng Ah Wong who has been running this business for more than 35 years.
You’ll find how this humble shop was set up just under the staircase beneath a small store along Tomlinson Road. Mr. Wong shares how lucky they were for being able to buy their place as current rates for rental would be too expensive for them to afford these days.
